the corner of North 8th and Roebling that is now a condo construction site used to be the home of TRIBECA OVENS, a bread bakery that made all sorts of delicious breads that bakeries from all over the city would come pick up in the middle of the night. My friends and girlfriend, now wife, would stop by late at night after gigs or partying and hang with the bakers and they would send us away with huge bags of fresh hot olive loaves, cinnamon raisin bread, sourdough rolls. Pretty cool.

Yeah, this place was great. A bakery in a ‘hood is one of the best things - something so comforting about the smells. Like so many places, when this went it sort of was the beginning of the end. Too bad. Maybe a Whole Foods with a bakery will open, hardly the same.
